Since 1987, Music Together® has introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers around the world to the joys of family music-making and the powerful benefits of having music in their lives. Today, classes for children ages birth through grade two are found around the world.

From babyhood through the early elementary years, Music Together® nurtures each child’s natural musicality in a playful, musically rich learning environment. Our research-based music classes are designed to be non-formal and non-performance oriented, so your child can learn at his or her own pace, in a way that’s developmentally appropriate.

Music Together® Sing Shalom is a pilot program being developed in collaboration between The Jewish Education Project and local Music Together® centers in NYC and Long Island. The weekly parent-child music classes are uniquely designed for Jewish families with young children using the internationally recognized Music Together® early childhood music education program, enriched with songs from throughout the Jewish world. Each week, a community of families comes together to sing, dance, and play along in a class led by a trained Music Together® teacher. The music includes multicultural traditional and original Music Together® songs, supplemented with Jewish repertoire. You’ll learn lots of ways to interact musically with your child, supporting their development, strengthening family relationships, and helping them connect with the Jewish music tradition. And best of all, it’s fun for everyone! For families with children 0-5.

With Music Together Online, you’ll have access to the same high-quality music and movement curriculum loved by millions of families and teachers around the world—from home!

Classes will be held twice a week for 20 minutes each time via Zoom.

During each live/interactive class, I will lead activities for you and your whole family to sing, play, and jam along to. We’ll be using songs from the Bongos collection, and I will show you how to make everyday items like dish towels, pots, and stuffies into musical props! Classes are appropriate for children ages 0 – 5 —but the whole family is welcome (and encouraged!) to participate!

When you enroll, you will receive a code to download your music through our award-winning Hello Everybody app and a hard-copy songbook and CD.

Elah Grandel

About me

I was born in Boston but my parents brought me to Israel when I was 2 years old, and with an American father and an Israeli mother, I basically grew up in a bilingual home. I grew up in Jerusalem and started playing the bassoon when I went to study at the Rubin Academy High School. Following that, I joined the Israeli Army and served there for two years in the program for distinguished musicians. During my Army service, I was able to study at the Rubin Academy for higher education where I received my Bachelor’s degree in music performance. I came back to Boston with my husband, Misha Grandel (a fantastic trumpet player) in 1999 and graduated with Masters in music performance from Boston University. Since coming to the States, I have led a dual life of both an active musician and a Hebrew teacher, and the best part is that I am able to combine those two by learning the language through songs!
I am a strong advocate for languages whether it’s music or Hebrew and believe we should offer our children as many opportunities as possible for acquiring languages, as they are real gifts!
